It didn’t have to be like this
No one had to die
We could have lived together
Everyone thriving, sweet as pie
There didn’t have to be the hate
The orders to comply
There didn’t have to be the mean
Or the rumble of war nearby
There could have been celebrations
And blue clouds in a clear sky
There could have been connection
Where only tears of joy, we’d cry
We could have helped each other up
And said, “Thank you,” in reply
But you were selfish and greedy
Chose spite as your only ally
You forgot that we’re all neighbors
You eagerly said goodbye
You sprinkled around the blame
Unable to look yourself in the eye
Then sobbed with tears of loneliness
And begged to know why
You burned the world down to the ground
At the rubble we just sigh
We pleaded to reason with you
But you screamed, “Let it fry”
