One of the best parts of writing is first learning. As previously noted, I really like to try to find writing inspiration in looking at what happened today in history. Another deep well of inspiration for me is to research something I really love. Today, I started to look into Bob Dylan’s Christmas album, Christmas in the Heart. I’ve always loved that album but never really learned anything about it. I wanted to look it up because the new Bob Dylan biopic opened in theaters today. I hope to see it soon. Just from the trailers and teasers, I already know it’s going to be a phenomenal inspiration to me. I am teeming with excitement.
What’s something you love but know almost nothing about? Make a list. Then make the time. The next time you’re doom scrolling, do some research from your list. You can go down a rabbit hole of misery or you can go down a rabbit hole of inspiration. It can be ten minutes or ten hours.
Then, write about what you learned. What surprised you? What moved you? What changed you? Just write.
