It’s easy to sit. here and say there is always something to write about, but there is. There really is.
You know what I mean. You’ve had a bit of a day. Nothing’s really gone well at all. And now, you’re barely able to remember your name, but you expect yourself to sit down and write.
Something that always gives me a little flicker is looking at what happened on this date in history. Some random internet research told me this:
Today, in 1911, a man named Roald Amundsen (what a cool freaking name, right?) and his merry men, became the first team to reach the South Pole. He was, no shocker, Norwegian. It took him from June to January just to get from Norway to Antarctica. Once there, he set up some supply checkpoints and didn’t even set out for the South Pole until October. Evidently, he was also part of the first verified group to reach the North Pole (hi Santa!). His group did that in an airship on May 12, 1926.
Such a cool dude, right?
So, you could write a story about him.
Or you could write a story about a completely new cool explorer. Only, he goes someplace new. Maybe a new planet, moon, time warp through an open wormhole created when the energy created during a fight between he and his wife split the fabric of time?
If you’re every looking for something new to write, go back and look at something old for the most terrific inspiration.
