A Mama’s Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

Usually, I’d ask you for something sparkly. Also, a chance to take a leisurely shower without someone needing me to find something. Maybe I could find a new Dooney under the tree. Not this year. Mama’s got bigger fish to fry.

Can ya just switch out the hate with consideration? Can ya replace fear of the unknown with curiosity? Can ya swap intolerance for acceptance?

Ya see, a mama to one is a mama to all. At the moment, my biological kids are safe, housed, and fed. But if there’s one kid who is not safe, housed, and fed, there is one too many. And there are many too many.

I know a lot of mama’s who’d be willing to give up everything under the tree, hell the tree itself, if it meant the world’s kids could be safe, housed, and fed. I mean, COME ON! If there’s anything we can all get behind, it’s that we should be taking care of the kids. ALL of the kids.

This world is getting scarier and scarier. There’s an army of mamas down here ready to do what we need to do to take care of these kids. So maybe you could do your part and lend a hand.

Much appreciated,
Mama of the world
